Current Standings

The Virginia Intermont College Intercollegiate Dressage Team returned from the Feb. 26 show at Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, N.C.) with their 12th consecutive regional victory. VI has been undefeated in the region every year since IDA’s inception in 2001. The final show will also determine individual regional standings for the Intermont riders. In addition to 12 regional titles, the VI dressage team also has three national titles and one reserve national title under its belt.

In intercollegiate dressage competition, Virginia Intermont teams A and B took first and third place at the Feb. 19 show held at VI Riding Center.  VI competes in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) Southeast region along with Appalachian State University, Averett University, Elon University, North Carolina State University, St. Andrews Presbyterian College and Wake Forest University.

At each show, individuals and teams earn points that count toward regional standings and qualification for national finals. Riding coach Lisa Moosmueller-Terry has led VI’s IDA teams to national championships in 2006, 2007 and 2010.

VI’s Erin Hoyt won Reserve High Point Rider at the Feb. 19 show with a score of 72.400% just behind Virginia Tech’s Danielle Dombrowe with 72.500%.

The Virginia Intermont College Intercollegiate Dressage Association teams are leading the region after the third show for the college in the fall season. Virginia Intermont riders dominated at the latest show Sunday at Wake Forest University, placing first in all divisions, and its “Team A” earned a perfect score to win champion.

Sierra Mills, a junior from Henniker, N.H., won champion in the First Level division and was the high point rider of the show.

Sunday, Oct. 23 – Bristol, Va. – Virginia Intermont College Riding Center
Virginia Intermont College Intercollegiate Dressage Association teams placed first and second, and a mixed team of all VI riders placed third at the regional show Sunday, Oct. 23 hosted at the VI Riding Center. With the winning points, Virginia Intermont, the defending Southeast Region IDA champion, moves into the lead in regional standings following two shows for the fall 2011 season.
VI’s Sierra Mills, a junior from Henniker, N.H., was the high point rider with 72.16 points.
Virginia Tech placed 4th at the show, followed by Appalachian State University in 5th place.
