When Sarah Tollie ’09, a graduate student at Middle Tennessee State University, marketing associate at the Birthplace of Country Music, and alumna of Virginia Intermont’s English – Literature & Creative Writing program, first set foot on VI’s campus, she couldn’t have imagined the world of possibilities the small, tight-knit school would bring to her. Now, eight years later, those possibilities continue to come her way – and she gives VI much of the credit. Join Sarah as she talks about VI’s instrumental role in her journey in “Bristol, the Birthplace, and Beyond: VI’s Lasting Impact” on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. in VI’s Science Hall 201.
Sep 2 @ 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Showtimes at 4 and 7:30 p.m. September 2 & 3, 2013.
This incredible film brings to light the untold story of thirty-eight Ukrainian Jews who survived World War II by living in caves for eighteen months – the longest-recorded sustained underground survival. Built upon interviews with former cave inhabitants, as well as Chris Nicola, the caving enthusiast who unearthed the story, No Place on Earth is an extraordinary testament to resourcefulness, inventiveness, and endurance against all odds. “Astonishing,” writes John Defore of The Hollywood Reporter.
