About the Raise the Roof Campaign:
Case
During more than eight decades since the Gym was constructed in 1928, hundreds of students have improved their wellbeing through athletic training and competition, physical fitness and supporting classmates with Cobra team spirit. Combined with the academic experience, these activities contribute to students’ developing happy, healthy and productive lives.
Recently, the Gym floor was beautifully restored and the walls updated. The Cobras have returned to the Gym for competition, and support for the teams is increasingly strong.
Goal
Plans • Replace the roof and repair damage to ceiling • Install new guttering • Replace windows • Install new exhaust fans • Install ramp for access by the physically challenged • Re-landscaping of Quad in Gym area

When Sarah Tollie ’09, a graduate student at Middle Tennessee State University, marketing associate at the Birthplace of Country Music, and alumna of Virginia Intermont’s English – Literature & Creative Writing program, first set foot on VI’s campus, she couldn’t have imagined the world of possibilities the small, tight-knit school would bring to her. Now, eight years later, those possibilities continue to come her way – and she gives VI much of the credit. Join Sarah as she talks about VI’s instrumental role in her journey in “Bristol, the Birthplace, and Beyond: VI’s Lasting Impact” on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. in VI’s Science Hall 201. |
