3rd Annual Armed Forces Recognition Game @ Boyce Cox Field - DeVault Memorial Stadium

Armed Forces Game

The Virginia Intermont College baseball team will host the third annual Armed Forces Recognition Game April 6, 2013 to honor those who serve or have served in the United States armed forces.  The Intermont Cobras will take on Union College at 1 p.m. at Devault Stadium in Bristol, Va.  Admission is free, and all Armed Forces men and women, friends and fans are invited. Virginia Intermont College students can earn convocation credit by attending the game.

Proceeds from raffle tickets, tee-shirt sales and concessions will benefit the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program.  Donations to the organization are also welcome.

Speaker from “Ecological Energy Systems” @ Brantley Dining Room

The Business Department has a speaker coming in from a local renewable energy company called “Ecological Energy Systems” to discuss this new entrepreneurial Wind and Solar Business in the Tri-Cities. He will be bringing in some show and tell items as well. There will be two separate events, one at 9 am in the BDR and another one at 11 am in Science Hall Rm. 203.
Earn convocation credit by attending ONE of the two lectures.

Poetry Reading hosted by the VI Poetry Club @ Student Center at Virginia Intermont College

April is National Poetry Month

There will be four featured faculty readers – Dr. Mark Roberts, Dr. Gary Poulton, Prof. Edison Jennings, and Prof. Mari Alschuler . Several students will read their work as well. The reading should last around one hour and there will be light refreshments served afterwards.  Any student interested in reading that evening should contact Mr. Smith (randysmith@vic.edu) or Sierra Mills , President of the Poetry Club (sierramills@vic.edu) .   We are hoping for a enjoyable and inspirational celebration of the “language of life”(POETRY) , the entire campus community is invited to attend . Convocation credit will be given .
