Meet the Admissions Team
Rick Carroll, Ph.D., LPC Dr. Carroll lives in Bristol with his wife and three active boys. He received a B.A. in psychology from Emory & Henry College in 1991. He completed his M.S. in counseling from Longwood College in 1993. In 2008 he completed his doctorate degree in counselor education and supervision from Regent University and published an article titled, “Adventure-based Counseling with At-risk Middle School Students.” His 20 years of experience in the field of human services has proven valuable with the selectivity process involved in admissions. In addition to teaching courses in the psychology department, Dr. Carroll helps with the screening of applicants to improve the chances of students being successful once they join the VI community. His favorite past times include playing golf and attending sporting events with his family.
Lisa Lobdell Lisa came to Virginia Intermont in 2003 from Sacramento, Calif., to pursue her passion for equine studies. She received a B.A. in equine studies with an art minor in 2007 and is currently working on her master’s in human resource development. Lisa joined the admissions staff in January 2008 and works with students interested in business, English, psychology, religion, theatre, social work, pre-law, education and all students interested in non-traditional programs (Evening &Weekend program and licensure only students). In her free time, Lisa enjoys riding her horse, spending time with family and taking on an occasional art project.
Travis Pate Hailing from the mountains of North Carolina, Travis is a 2009 graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.A. in interdisciplinary studies and a business minor. He joined the VI community as an admissions representative in March 2011, and coordinates with students who are undecided in their major field of study, as well as those interested in art and sport management. Travis enjoys spending time with his wife and son, as well as playing electric guitar, writing, rock climbing and hiking.
Terrie Leigh Oliver A native of Christiansburg, Va., Terrie is an alumna of Virginia Intermont where she studied business administration with a concentration in management. She has been an employee of VI for 18 years, as sports information director for 12 years and currently as office manager in admissions.
Jenny Perkins Jenny is one of the newest members of the admissions team. As a lifelong resident of Bristol, Tenn., she is proud to represent a college with a long history in the Bristol community. Before joining the admissions staff at VI, Jenny studied at King College with an interest in business and visual arts. As administrative assistant and special events coordinator, she is responsible for maintaining applicant information and planning special events for the admissions office.
Jennifer Kandt Jenn Kandt, a native Californian, came to Virginia Intermont College in 2010 as the assistant volleyball coach and hiking instructor. In 2012 she joined the admissions team as the Athletic Admissions Liaison. She works specifically with coaches and athletic recruits through the admissions process. A graduate of King College with a B.A. in technical and professional communication, Jenn enjoys hiking, spending quality time with friends and family, and playing outdoor volleyball. |
