Members of the Virginia Intermont College (VI) athletics staff teamed up with future NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning this week at the Niswonger Children’s Hospital Golf Classic fundraiser at the Blackthorn Club at The Ridges.
VI’s Executive Director of Athletics Christopher Holt and Head Golf Coach Louis Collier played 18 holes with University of Tennessee alum and NFL star Peyton Manning. As of Monday morning, the event raised more than $300,000 for the Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn.
“It was an unbelievable opportunity to play golf with someone who has reached the highest level in sports and to do it at an event for a great cause,” said Holt. “And after Peyton’s career on the gridiron comes to an end, I think he has a career on the links as well. He was the best player on our team.”
Also attending the event were former NFL star and Hall of Famer Dan Marino and 1995 U.S. Open Golf Champion Corey Pavin.
