The Virginia Intermont College Equine Studies Department will host Lanier Cordell, renowned expert in equestrian marketing, for a two-day workshop on campus Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27 and 28. Cordell, a member of the college Board of Trustees, is the author of “Equinomics: The Secret to Making Money with Your Horse Business,” an Amazon Books top seller since 2006. She presents the workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in Harrison-Jones Memorial Hall.
Cordell is a nationally accredited public relations professional and has worked in marketing, public relations and advertising for more than 25 years. In addition, she is a co-founder of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association and serves on its national board as the association’s marketing and public relations officer. She is also founder and president of the Virginia Intermont College Equine Studies Advisory Board, and past president of the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine’s Friends Group. She helped establish the Riders Interscholastic Federation of North America and serves on its board. She is also a member of the intercollegiate committee of the U.S. Equestrian Federation.
Cordell created and has served as editor of the Virginia Intermont College Equine Studies program newsletter, The Hoof Beat, since 1995. She regularly contributes articles to many national equine publications including Dressage Today, Practical Horseman, and Quarter Horse Journal. She is also a frequent presenter at equine industry venues in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
